Cats do not usually show pain, however some changes in their behavior can alert us that something is happening to them. For example, problems in the mouth can be detected when the cat eats less, approaches the feeder and leaves without finishing, whimpers when it eats food, or hides at mealtime, …
In these cases it is advisable to visit the vet for an examination and assess what is happening.
We recently had the case of a kitten that cried when it ate, the examination did not reveal anything significant, so the veterinarian advised an X-ray. In the X-ray we found a dental resorption, which is why the extraction of the three damaged teeth has been necessary.
Now this kitten is recovered and can continue eating normally.
